Letters to you, and what I'm learning
“What do you see in them that they don't yet see in themselves?”
Why this question
The qualities they're too young or too close to notice. The things you see clearly.
Capturing it in voice
- ·Don't script it. The ums, the tangents, the half-finished sentences — that's what their voice actually sounds like right now.
- ·Thirty seconds is plenty. A short answer you actually record beats a long one you keep meaning to.
- ·Say the date and their age out loud at the start. In ten years that one detail will do half the work.
